Sore red eyes,  flashes and floaters sticky eyes itchy eyes. At Lambrou eye Studio we are part of the Bromley Minor Eye Conditions Scheme (BMECS)


Joseph has taken time to specialise in this service to provide emergency eye-care. in the community.

BMECS is a service set up by NHS Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group for patients who are registered with a Bromley GP, to access an accredited local optometrist if they experience a medical eye condition. If you are not registered with a GP in Bexley Bromley or Greenwich, we are still able to see you for a private emergency appointment.

HOW DO I ACCESS BMECS?

You do not need to be referred for a MECS appointment.

You can 'self refer'.

MECS appointments cover the majority of eye problems. Please contact us to discuss your symptoms, and we can advise you on how urgently you need to be seen.

EYE CONDITIONS NOT TREATED UNDER BMECS

If you have any of the following conditions you must go directly to your nearest Accident and Emergency Department/Urgent care centre.

  • Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes

  • Considerable eye pain

  • Significant trauma, such as a penetrating injury or lacerations to the eye(s) or lid(s). 

  • Chemical injury or burns

  • Problems arising from recent eye surgery

Please note:

This service does not replace routine eye examinations, eye tests or prescriptions for glasses.

A sight test will not be performed as part of the assessment or treatment and you will not be issued with a prescription for glasses.

Remember: you may not be able to drive immediately after the eye examination.
